Project Engineer

ROLE:

This individual will work to deliver projects from mobilisation right through to commissioning and handover. This person will form part of a dynamic delivery team carrying out projects across Munster.

The individual will need to demonstrate their abilities in understanding and overseeing building work, undertaking surveys, setting out sites and organising resources with the Foreman. Ability to check technical designs and drawings to ensure that they are being followed correctly, ensuring projects meet agreed specifications, budgets or timescales. Preparing site reports and filling in other paperwork and ensuring that health and safety, quality and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to. 

Duties will involve but not limited to the following:
  • Daily surveying & setting out on site.

  • Management of civils crew on site. This may vary from a direct team to a subcontracted team.

  • Providing clear communication of construction drawings on site for layouts, material, measurements etc.

  • Setting out, and providing precise lines, levels, and reference points on site for civils team.

  • Management of civil works H&S & QA documentation

  • Management and compilation of utility provider documentation e.g., Irish Water QA/QC folder

  • Liaise & act as the dedicated POC with the relevant utility providers i.e., Irish Water, ESB, EIR

  • Provide reports for the site management team.

  • Working closely with Site Manager to ensure that the Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety aspects of the work are adhered to.

  • Ensure production and implementation of project plans, including but not limited to, site specific H&S plans and QA/QC test plans (ITP’s).

  • Identification of materials required for works packages. Liaise with the PM to ensure timely deliveries on site.

  • Implementation of Health and Safety procedures and work with the company Health & Safety representative to ensure legislative compliance.

  • Monitor civil team direct labour and sub-contractor performance and advise the PM of actions when necessary to improve performance.

  • Aid in designing the works package programme in conjunction with the PM at the project outset.

  • Record progress and manage design changes/delays on site ensuring our project QS is notified daily of any delays and cost implication associated with same.

  • Extract information from drawings & specification.

  • Assist the PM with technical submissions if required.

  • Assist the PM with issuing works packages to subcontractors.

  • Attend and contribute to company Operations meetings as required.

  • Attend and contribute to company Health and Safety Meetings as required.

  • Attend meetings and contribute to company Strategy and Policymaking as required.

  • Maintain good Time Management

  • Develop personal skills and capability through on-going training, as provided by the company or elsewhere subject to Company approval.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree / Higher Diploma qualification in Engineering.
  • 3+ years  site or project management or setting out experience.
  • Experience working with a main contractor, subcontractor, surveying firm or similar preferred.
  • A strong motivational attitude and a desire to succeed and to help us to further grow.
  • Excellent verbal, written and computer skills.
  • Working knowledge of the latest building regulation and certification standards
  • Excellent people, client management and negotiation skills
